Listen to ‘High-ticket vs low-ticket offers: how to scale a business that fits your life’ on: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Your player of choice
In this episode, I’m breaking down one of the most important (and most overlooked) questions in business: Does the way you’re making money actually support the life you want to live?
This conversation was sparked by a DM exchange I had with a potential mastermind client who shared that she’d experienced $70k–$80k months—but at a cost she no longer wanted to pay. That moment stuck with me and opened up a bigger conversation around trade-offs, capacity, and building a business with your life in mind.
I walk through the real costs behind different offer types—low-ticket memberships, courses, funnels, and high-ticket coaching—and explain why there is no single “right” way to scale. Every model works, but every model comes with trade-offs. The key is choosing the one that aligns with your current season, energy, and vision.
I also share why I’m a big believer in an offer suite, how my own offers have evolved over time, and why letting go of successful offers can sometimes be the most aligned decision you make.
In this episode, I cover:
- Why “all money isn’t made equal” when it comes to time, energy, and lifestyle
- The real trade-offs of low-ticket memberships, courses, funnels, and high-ticket coaching
- How volume, retention, marketing, and capacity show up differently depending on your offer type
- Why scaling looks different in different seasons of life and business
- How to decide which offers best support the life you actually want
- Why there’s no right or wrong way to scale—only what’s aligned for you
- The importance of letting go of offers that no longer fit, even if they worked in the past
- Why I’m team offer suite and how I balance low-ticket and high-ticket offers in my own business
All Money Is Money — But Not All Money Is Made Equal (How to Build a Business With Your Life in Mind)
I was recently chatting with a potential Overflow Mastermind client via direct messages — voice memos back and forth — when one phrase she said stuck with me so deeply that I knew it deserved an entire podcast episode.
She said this:
“All money is money, but not all money is made equal.”
She was explaining how she had made $70,000 months, $80,000 months, yet it came at a cost. And she didn’t want that anymore.
She said something that really hit me:
“I love the way that you make money with life in mind.”
And that’s what this blog post is all about — the trade‑offs in business and how to build a business that actually supports the life you want to live.
The Trade‑Offs of Entrepreneurship
In business (and in life), there’s a cost to everything — not always a bad cost, just a trade‑off. Whether that cost is time, energy, attention, or money, there is always something you’re investing in order to create results.
What I want you to ask yourself is:
What kind of cost makes the most sense for the life you want to live?
Because what works in one season of your business might not be the best fit in another.
Let’s break down how different offers impact your life (and your business).
Low‑Cost Memberships
Low‑ticket membership programs can be a fantastic way to build recurring revenue.
But here’s the catch:
In order to hit big months — $5K, $10K, $50K — a low‑cost membership requires a lot of volume.
That means:
- Getting a high number of people into the membership
- Maintaining strong member retention
- Investing in marketing consistently (organic and/or paid)
The trade‑off?
Not so much time coaching each person — but time and energy spent on marketing and audience growth.
Online Courses + Funnels
Courses can be more hands‑off once created — especially if you sell them through funnels.
You create it once, maybe update it a few times a year, and let it sell.
But — let’s be honest — funnels don’t magically sell themselves.
Average funnel conversions typically fall between 2–8%, and even an 8% converting funnel still requires volume to work.
So the cost here is:
- Audience growth
- Driving traffic (organic or paid)
- Funnel optimization and maintenance
One‑on‑One Coaching
High‑ticket coaching offers a different kind of cost:
your time and energy.
When you’re coaching clients 1:1, your calendar fills up fast, and that’s your most valuable resource.
You don’t need as many clients — but you do need:
- Time to deliver
- Energy to serve
- Availability on your calendar
And if you take too many clients at once? You risk burning out.
A Simple Framework to Understand Value
I saw an Instagram story from Abu Fofana (who I met at the Kajabi Conference — he’s incredible and always has thought‑provoking content). He said:
You can take something of high value and attach a low price to it and sell it to many,
or attach a high price to it and sell it to a few.
Example:
- $20 product × 1,000 people
- $2,000 product × 100 people
➡️ You’re making the same revenue — but choosing different trade‑offs.
It’s really interesting to think about price perception and value in this way.
You Can Scale With Any Offer
Here’s the truth:
You can scale a business with any type of offer at any price point — as long as it aligns with your life and vision.
There’s no one right way to scale.
Yes, some people will tell you:
- “You need a high‑ticket offer to scale.”
- “You need a membership.”
- “You need a funnel.”
But the reality is — you can make it work any way you choose.
The real question is:
What kind of business fits the life you want to live?
Ask Yourself What You Really Want
Here are questions to help you reflect:
- What do you want your calendar to look like?
- How many hours a week do you actually want to work?
- Do you want live calls, or can support be asynchronous?
- Do you want paid advertising in your business?
- Do you want a lot of client interaction, or more passive income streams?
Answering these questions will guide you to the offers that fit your life and your goals.
My Personal Business Approach (and Why It Works for Me)
In 2026 — and honestly, for years prior — people will give you opinions on what you should do.
But here’s how I personally run my business:
I build an offer suite.
That means:
- I have low‑ticket offers (as low as $17)
- I have high‑ticket coaching ($6,000 to $15,000+ depending on the package)
- I leverage multiple revenue streams that support my life
Why?
Because that mix lets me:
- Serve different types of clients
- Maintain flexibility in my schedule
- Grow revenue without burning out
And most importantly — it matches the life I choose to live.
Offers Change — And That’s Okay
Just because something worked before doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it forever.
I’ve let offers go that were amazing — and that my clients loved — because they no longer fit the direction I’m going. And that’s okay.
Everything you create in business is a stepping stone.
Not every offer is the one that will take you to where you want to go.
And that’s the point.
Final Thoughts
Everything in business is a trade‑off — and cost is not inherently bad.
The real question is:
What cost are you willing to pay — and does it align with the life you want to live?
Whether you choose:
- Memberships
- Funnels
- Coaching
- A combination of all of them
…it all comes back to intentional decisions and alignment with your vision.
